I have kept notes for nearly thirty years. I started in outline tools, wrote my own in Delphi around 2000 (I called it BitBox), moved to Evernote, spent time in iA Writer and Ulysses, and ran my days and to-dos in Wunderlist for years, long before Obsidian, and I missed it when it was shut down. I lived in Obsidian for a while, kept plain Markdown in Git for years, and eventually settled on Bear. Along the way I have tried just about every notes app, Markdown editor, and to-do app there is, plus a pile you have never heard of.
Through all of it I carried the same thing from tool to tool: meeting notes, brain dumps, planning sessions, technical write-ups, the accumulated thinking of a career. Every one of those tools got something right, and every one got something wrong, so every few years I packed it all up and moved again.
Then the ground shifted. I started spending my working days alongside AI agents, and I noticed the same gap in every one of them: each conversation starts from zero. The agent that helped me plan something on Monday remembers none of it on Thursday, and the one vendor's agent knows nothing of what I worked out with another's. Meanwhile the thirty years of notes I had been carrying around were exactly the memory those agents needed. The tool I had always wanted for myself turned out to be the tool my agents were missing too.
linden.md is the culmination: the parts that worked, without the parts that didn't. It is built from the ground up to be a second brain and planning companion for an AI age, with a direct, controlled connection to the agents you already use. Your notes, tasks, and plans live in one knowledge tree that you own, that syncs to every device you carry, and that any agent you trust can read and write, with your permission and on your terms.
Nobody knows exactly what AI will bring next, so the aim is simple. Keep your library in an open, portable form, on hardware you control if you want it that way, and make it reachable by whatever comes.
