Privacy policy

Effective August 2026. Linden is built and operated by Limelyte Technology Group Inc.

Linden is a notes, tasks, and second-brain app. The design is that your library lives on a daemon you control: either one you run yourself, or one we run for you on Linden Cloud. This page describes what that means in practice.

Where your notes live

Notes, tasks, tags, attachments, and version history are stored on the Linden daemon your apps talk to. They are not stored in the mobile or desktop app except as a local cache so the app works offline. That cache is on your device and is not sent to Limelyte except as part of syncing with your daemon.

• Self-hosted. The daemon runs on a computer you own. Limelyte never holds the library.
• Linden Cloud. We operate the daemon for your account. Your library lives on that host. We do not use your notes, tasks, or files for advertising, profiling, or training models. You can export everything as plain Markdown at any time.

The gateway

By default, a daemon connects outbound to the Linden gateway at linden.md so your phone, laptop, and agents can reach it without port forwarding. The gateway is a TLS-terminating relay operated by Limelyte.

• It routes traffic between your clients and your daemon. It does not persist note bodies, attachments, or task contents.
• It holds account metadata needed to operate the service: the subdomain, pairing and auth material, plan and traffic counters, and (for Cloud) which host your daemon runs on.
• Traffic is encrypted in transit. Because the gateway terminates TLS, the process can see payloads in order to forward them. It does not log or retain those payloads.
• You can run entirely on your local network without the gateway. The gateway is only for reaching a daemon from anywhere and for publishing.

The app

The Linden app (iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android) is a client. It talks to your daemon over HTTPS. It does not send your library to Limelyte.

• Photos, camera, and files. Used only when you attach them to a note. Attachments are uploaded to your daemon, not to Limelyte (unless your daemon is on Linden Cloud).
• Location. Optional, off unless you turn on "Record location on notes" in Settings. When on, a GPS fix is written onto the note and stored with the rest of your library. Location is never published on your public blog and is never sent to a third party.
• Notifications. Local reminders for tasks. They are scheduled on the device and do not go through Limelyte.
• Analytics. The app itself collects none. No crash reporter, no advertising SDK, no third-party tracker.

Accounts, email, and agents

• Signup. Linden Cloud signup uses an email address to send a verification code. We keep that email as the account contact.
• Inbox capture. Each account can receive mail at a private address on in.linden.md. Mail you forward there is delivered to your daemon and filed as a note. We keep only what is needed to route the message.
• AI agents. Tokens, OAuth grants, and pair codes you create live on your daemon. You revoke them there. Agent traffic to your library uses the same path as the app: through the gateway to your daemon, not into a Limelyte store.

This website

linden.md (the marketing site, docs, changelog, and signup pages) may use Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic. That is separate from the app and from your library. You can block it with a standard tracker-blocker.

What we do not do

• We do not sell personal information.
• We do not use your notes or files to train models.
• We do not show ads in the app.
• We do not require the app to work with Linden Cloud. Self-hosting is first-class.

Your choices

Export your library as Markdown from the app or the daemon at any time. Delete a Cloud account by writing to us and we will remove the hosted daemon and its data. Self-hosted libraries are yours to delete on the machine that holds them.

Children

Linden is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
